The scissorhands of science

Etymology tells us that decide shares a root with excise, incise, concise and scissors. The common theme is cutting: decision-making implies cutting off options.

Coincidence or not, from an etymological perspective, science is akin to scissors, scythe, and schism, all with the idea of cutting: science is about breaking ideas down into their complex parts, ferreting out critical detail.

All decisions require some degree of bravery. So. Following an argument of logical deduction: science is a wildly heroic effort.

Amazing, transparent, cruising around campus in a Bat mobile. Watch them shortcut: scientists are the cut-est.
